Cinnamomum verum
Botanical Name: Cinnamomum verum
Benefits and Uses: Sluggish Digestion, Colds/Flu Exhaustion, Lice, Circulation, Rheumatism, Scabies, Stress
Cassia, a key spice in culinary practices, is a member of the Fabaceae family. The essential oil of Cassia is derived from the bark of Cinnamomum cassia through steam distillation. Unlike cinnamon bark, Cassia’s bark is thicker and darker, offering flavors that are more robust and less sweet.
Cassia Oil is a dark brown, free-flowing liquid that emits a strong, spicy, warm, and resinous aroma. The oil primarily consists of cinnamic aldehyde, Eugenol, and other terpenoids. It is predominantly used in beverages, pharmaceuticals, and oral care products.
It's important to note that cinnamon oil is highly concentrated and can cause skin irritation or allergic reactions in some individuals. It should be diluted properly before topical application and used with caution, especially by pregnant women, children, and individuals with sensitive skin.
