Botanical Name: Coriandrum sativum
Benefits and Uses: Analgesic, Aperitif, Antispasmodic, Bactericidal, Depurative, Digestive, Carminative, Stimulant, Stomachic
Coriander, alternatively known as cilantro or Chinese parsley, is a yearly herb from the Apiaceae family. While the entire plant is consumable, the fresh leaves and dried seeds are the parts most commonly used in culinary practices. Coriander Oleoresins are produced through the solvent extraction of the dried, mature fruits of the Coriandrum sativum herb. This product possesses a blend of sweet and aromatic flavors, accompanied by musty and citrus-like undertones. It presents as a free-flowing, uniform liquid that varies in color from dark to golden brown.
When using coriander oil, it's essential to dilute it properly with a carrier oil, such as coconut oil or jojoba oil, especially for topical application, to avoid skin irritation or sensitization. Additionally, it's advisable to perform a patch test before using coriander oil, especially if you have sensitive skin or allergies.
