Cardamom Oil
Elettaria cardamomum
Botanical Name: Elettaria cardamomum
Benefits and Uses: Appetite, Colic, Fatigue, Stress
Belonging to the Zingiberaceae family, Cardamom is often celebrated as the 'Queen of Spices'. The essential oil of cardamom is derived from Elletaria cardamomum (L) Maton through a process known as steam distillation. This product is a fluid that ranges in color from colorless to a light yellow hue.
It boasts a sweet, spicy, and warming note, complemented by a woody, balsamic base note. The primary constituents of this product are 1,8-Cineol and Terpinyl acetate. Cardamom oil is predominantly utilized for its flavor and medicinal properties.
Before using cardamom oil for any purpose, it's important to dilute it properly with a suitable carrier oil and perform a patch test to check for any allergic reactions or skin sensitivities. Pregnant or nursing women should consult with a healthcare professional before using essential oils.
